Stop Motion

What is Stop Motion?

Stop motion is a fun animation technique where kids use an iPad or phone to take pictures of clay figures, toys, or drawings, moving them little by little.
When the photos play in sequence, the objects appear to move on their own — just like magic!

Why kids love it:

  • Turns screen time into creative time
  • Builds patience, problem-solving, and planning skills
  • Develops storytelling and cinematography techniques
  • Encourages imagination and attention to detail

What Kids Will Learn

By the end of each session, kids will:

  • Understand how photos create the illusion of motion
  • Animate toys, clay, and everyday objects using a simple app
  • Explore techniques like looping, keyframes, and frame rate
  • Practice art fundamentals — composition, movement, and timing
  • Learn to express creativity using technology they already enjoy

“Kids don’t just watch animations — they make them!”

Program Benefits

Why Choose Stop-Motion Workshops?

Creative learning that builds skills for life.

Hands-On Creativity, Every Session

Kids plan, build, shoot, and edit their own stop-motion films — learning through real creative action. Every session ends with a tangible result they can proudly share and build upon.

Confidence Through Creation

Seeing their ideas come to life boosts self-esteem and pride. Kids gain confidence not just in art, but in problem-solving, persistence, and sharing their ideas publicly.

Storytelling & Communication Skills

Stop motion naturally teaches kids how to structure a story — beginning, middle, and end. They learn to express ideas visually, present them clearly, and communicate emotion through movement — skills that strengthen writing, reading comprehension, and classroom presentations.

Focus, Patience & Problem-Solving

Animation is a frame-by-frame process that requires planning, sequencing, and trial-and-error. Kids practice patience and attention to detail while developing critical thinking and creative problem-solving — powerful habits for both school and life.

Digital Literacy & Responsible Screen Time

Instead of consuming content, kids learn to create it. They develop digital literacy while using iPads, cameras, and editing software responsibly — turning screen time into creative, educational time.

Collaboration & Teamwork

Many activities are done in pairs or small groups, encouraging cooperation, leadership, and peer feedback. Kids learn to brainstorm, delegate, and celebrate each other’s successes — just like in real creative studios.

All Equipment Provided

Every workshop includes all the tools and materials: iPads, tripods, lighting, props, and clay. All kids need to bring is their imagination.

Family Engagement & Take-Home Results

At the end of each class, students take home their animated video — a perfect way to share progress with family and spark meaningful conversations about their creativity.

Transferable Skills for School and Beyond

Stop-motion animation helps kids excel in areas far beyond art class:

  • Improves focus, organization, and task management
  • Enhances storytelling for writing and language projects
  • Builds confidence for public speaking and presentations

Strengthens observation and creative thinking used in STEM and design projects
